LIVING BLUES MAGAZINE Feb 2007 reports TOP 50 BLUES RELEASES OF 2006 "Do I Move You?" is the #1 record of the year on Blues Radio Airplay Charts!"
Bettye LaVette
"Seeing Janiva Magness live for the first time was exhilarating and refreshing. These days it's rare to see a performer put their "all" into their performance, as Janiva does."
All Music Guide:
“…the line between blues and soul is blurred indeed (and you could add gospel into that mix).
Delbert McClinton
"Janiva sings with a rare conviction. She will not be denied."
Charlie Musselwhite
"Janiva Magness always knocks me out because she has such style and poise on stage and she hits every note she sings just right, perfect every time."
Gary Nicholson
"Janiva's singing serves the song in the classic and timeless way of all great vocalists, she makes the lyric and melody connect with the listener heart and soul."
Billboard Magazine
"Aiming at an audience disenfranchised by pop radio but not too old to rock-n-roll, Magness is simmering and expressive... never overbearing... Magness carves out a niche by singing the blues with maturity and sophistication..."
Downbeat
" Magness vocalizes with no frills gusto... the sound of her voice reverberating from the listener's ear down to the gut."
Blues Revue:
"(Magness has) taken the blues and done something unique, inspired and worth countless listenings."
LA Times:

“Soulful” is the first word that comes to mind when listening to her latest NorthernBlues Music release, Bury Him at the Crossroads. 'Classic' is the second."
Nashville City Paper:

BluesWax:
"Magness is in possession of a supreme set of pipes and is arguably one of the more talented female vocalists to emerge of late, an opinion shared by more than a few."
"She rocks with a sexual vitality and power not heard in years. Honest, soulful and seductive."
"Janiva Magness' 2004/2005/2006 Handy nominations as Best Contemporary Blues Female Artist are a mere precursor to her winning it
..."
No Depression Magazine:
“Janiva Magness slow-burns and romps heart-first...she never injects contrived emotion, never puts a tear in her voice where one doesn’t belong. She simply sings heartbreak, hunger and humor—sings ‘em with equally great chops and feeling—and lets that speak for itself.”
Dirty Linnen Magazine:
"Magness captures powerful heartbreak perfectly and, in doing so, creates a seamless mood to the point where you don't care whether any one song is new or old. Magness manages to make a statement that the music is hers, and ours, as she weaves the sentiments and sounds together into one big beautiful package".
